Thanks for visiting my site! I finally bit the bullet and re-did my old website, reclaiming the elizabethhardmansoprano domain, to help support my career as I struggle into the world of opera.
It’s been a wild year with COVID so everything has been turned upside down – so now I have my own website which is something I can actually control. It’s been weird finishing my Master’s in isolation, making recordings of the Wesendonck Lieder and various arias for my final recital, desperately trying to keep in sync with the backing tracks. I was lucky to be able to take part in British Youth Opera’s online workshops this past week which have given me a really great insight on how to approach getting into a full career in opera – as well as some excellent coaching from Stuart Barker and Paul Wingfield on the punishingly difficult ‘Tacea la notte placida’ from Verdi’s Il trovatore.
I’ll hopefully be posting recordings from my final recital over the next month so keep your eyes (and ears) peeled! This will be the programme –
- ‘Mi chiamano Mimi’ | La bohème | Puccini
- ‘Embroidery in Childhood’ | Peter Grimes | Britten
- ‘Abscheulicher! … komm Hoffnung’ | Fidelio | Beethoven
- ‘Voi lo sapete’ | Cavalleria rusticana | Mascagni
- ‘Tacea la notte placida’ | Il trovatore | Verdi
I’ve thrown myself fully back into the world of soprano repertoire after a brief identity crisis earlier in the year where I explored a lot of mezzo rep because of my ‘fruity bottom’.
Hope you enjoy the website!
